A little thinking makes all the difference!

Recently, I came across an interesting saying about "Thinking". It
states that only 2% of the people really think, 3% of the people
think that they think and 95% of the people would rather die than
think! What do you think? Does the statement make sense? Oh, by the
way, are you thinking ha?

I believe it refers to the fact that most of us look at things just
on the surface, sort of 'glancing' and don't really take the trouble
to look at things in a deeper perspective. Take for example,
recently I was in Indonesia (I believe by now the whole world knows
where the country is owing to the Bali incident.), the paper
published a chart showing the popularity of the President's policy
sliding down in the 15 months she that was in office.

The implication was that the government was not doing a good job. But if
we were to think deeper, perhaps the government is actually doing
the RIGHT THING. Because doing something popular doesn't mean it is
right. Doing things like raising the price of petrol and reducing
the subsidy is RIGHT but it's not popular!
Now, let's look at the media, they broadcast and publish a lot of
sensational news. It may be popular but it's not the right thing.

Can you see what a little "thinking" can do? It can help us to look
at life from a totally different perspective. We don't have to
follow the masses at all. Come to think of it, the masses may be
going the wrong way, otherwise, why is it there are so many unhappy
people in the world? And to add to the current issue, if people were
to do a little "thinking", they will not tie themselves to a bomb
and blast themselves and others. If their leaders were to say that
they will go to 'Paradise' by doing that - they should ask "How does
he know?" "Why doesn't he do it himself?". If their country's leader
were to ask them to declare WAR on another country; they should
ask, "What is it for?"

Similarly in one's life, we should not be swayed by what the public
think or expect in making our decision. We are here not on a
popularity contest. To me, we are here on a "Happy Contest". Do not
allow your happiness to be dependent on popularity. Base your
happiness on your dreams. Strike out and live your dreams. Because
that's the only way one can really excel and be happy. And it would
be real great if you can also structure it in such a way that you
are being paid while living your dreams!

And should you be rejected or 'fail' along the way, remember it's
just like falling down while playing your favourite game. Wasn't it
such fun? We can't even remember the pain.
That's how life is to be lived. Take all that come our way - it's
what makes our life rich. Never prefer a life where "Nothing"
happens to you. Start now, welcome things to happen to your life.
And if it doesn't - well, make it happen!
